In a world where innovation is pervasive, machines reign supreme, and the concept of work is becoming obsolete, what becomes of humanity’s purpose? This piece invites viewers to ponder this question as they confront the stark reality of a society where human labour is no longer required, ambition is stifled, and self-fulfilment is a distant memory.
Through a thought-provoking exploration of the obsolete human in this new context of life, the artwork challenges viewers to confront their own obsolescence in a world where intelligence is abundant, machines surpass human capabilities, and where traditional notions of education and knowledge have been rendered obsolete.
While advancements in surveillance and data collection continually progress in monitoring every movement, and the advancements of machinery move relentlessly in one direction, the artwork serves as a haunting reminder of the new prison that awaits us in a world ruled by artificial intelligence, surveillance, and big data. Yet, amidst the dystopian landscape, there is a glimmer of hope – a recognition of humanity’s inherent strength in its weaknesses; its ability to question, contextualize, and resist the homogenizing forces of technology.
'Echoes of Obsolescence' urges us to rethink our purpose in a world without work, to embrace our humanity in the face of obsolescence, and to forge a new path forward – one that celebrates our capacity for creativity, empathy, and resilience in the face of technological advancement.
Through its evocative imagery and profound symbolism, the piece invites viewers to confront the existential questions of our time and to envision a future where humanity, though obsolete in the eyes of machines, remains indispensable in the pursuit of meaning and purpose.
