As I was developing my narrative, I envisioned a scene in which a banana is placed in an art gallery, attempting to transform into different shapes. I pictured the banana positioned on a white podium in a white room, undergoing various transformations.
While preparing my exhibition display for my contemporary art module, I realized that I had created the ideal setting and decided to capture images for a stop-motion animation. I set up a tripod and camera to ensure that the images were taken from a consistent perspective.
I try to take images on my camera in RAW format but I settled on standard JPEGs to reduce the amount of work I would have to do in editing prior to video creation. I can process the photos together using the video editing process. This worked well as I was using consistent lighting and placement.
I would take a picture, adjust the banana, and then take the next picture. I would review the display menu to ensure that the shapes remained consistent with the previous photo.
I continued taking pictures until I was satisfied with the various formations, which would create a long enough video piece.
My next step is editing these images into a video. I have previously only created stop-motion animation in Photoshop, but I hope to develop my techniques in Premiere Pro for a more refined digital artefact.
