Last week, we had the opportunity to travel to London to visit a selection of galleries, including The Tate Modern, The Tate Britain, The Saatchi Gallery, The V&A. We also visited Central Saint Martins University for a tour and talk - it was inspiring to visit such a prestigious University.
At the Tate Modern, I visited the exhibit 'Capturing the Moment', which gave an overview of the relationship between the brush and the lens and how photography has been used within the contemporary art world.
I was also particularly Inspired by Jannis Kounellis' exhibition, which 'turns familiar materials, charged with History and meaning, into poetic assemblages.' It reminded me that there can be simplicity in art when there is a depth of history involved in the making.
At the V&A, I was awestruck by Jake Elwez's 'The Zizi Show', a digital art installation that highlights the issues of AI data collection biases and the impact this can have on already marginalised people.
After visiting traditional galleries, I explored the interactive experiences 'The Butterfly Trail' and 'The Twist Museum', as well as the Science Museum and the 'Turn it Up' sound experience. Within each of these environments, I was able to further my thinking in many of my personal practices.
